Busy Legislative Session Forecasted for NHNPA

Busy Legislative Session Forecasted for NHNPA

Fueled by a team of dedicated Government Affairs Committee members, Board members, and our paid lobbyists, NHNPA is well-positioned for another successful legislative session. Once again, the organization will be introducing legislation to improve the practice environment for APRNs (more to come about this initiative soon!). We will also be collaborating with other professional associations on legislation related to workforce initiatives, barriers to practice, and the OPLC.

In addition, over the coming months, our Government Affairs Committee will review all the Legislative Service Requests that are submitted to identify future bills that are of interest to the association. Throughout the legislative session, we will track many "bills of interest" and will engage as needed.  For example, we may provide written or oral testimony, submit op-eds to the media, or meet with members of the legislature.

The Government Affairs Committee typically meets on Thursdays at noon. They will resume convening on October 19. The committee recognizes that daytime meetings can be a challenge for some of our members and will also host a Government Affairs Update meeting on November 16th in the evening (time TBD). There are a variety of opportunities to get engaged and make meaningful contributions to the association's work and we encourage you to join our efforts. Please email Kim at [email protected] if you are interested in joining the committee or attending their upcoming meeting.

There will also be a legislative update provided during the NHNPA Gala on November 9th at the Bedford Village Inn.  This is an event that you do not want to miss! It is a time to celebrate, network, and engage with others. Click here to register and learn more.
